About Carla
Carla Bray is an accomplished and versatile musician, known for teaching and performing in a variety of different styles and venues.
During my career as a harpist, I have been fortunate to have performed alongside such legends as Stevie Wonder, Tony Bennett, John Williams, Kanye West, Quincy Jones, Monica Mancini, Michael Buble, and James Galway. I have performed with numerous orchestras throughout California, recorded for film and other projects at Fox and Sony Studios, and performed at famous venues like the Hollywood Bowl and Disney Hall.
Throughout the years as a professional pianist, I have held positions as a choral accompanist in schools and churches throughout California, including the Joaquin Miller Middle School in Orinda, Riverview Middle School in Pittsburg, Franklin Middle School in Long Beach, and Lakewood First United Methodist Church in Long Beach.
How It All Started
My lifelong musical journey began when I started studying piano at age 5. When I was 14, I discovered that I enjoyed accompanying vocal soloists and choirs. Thanks to some very open minded music school teachers, I began accompanying my middle school and high school choral groups while I was still enrolled as a student, which led to an ongoing interest of being a choral group accompanist. I discovered harp in my late teens, which opened up a whole different direction of music for me. I decided to focus my college study on harp, studying Harp Performance at CSU Long Beach.
I currently reside and perform in the San Francisco Bay Area. I teach lessons remotely on Zoom, from my home studio in Concord, CA.
